Hemp FabricThe quality of hemp fabric is quite similar with linen. It is sturdy and does not wrinkle much thus when blended with other natural fibers, it can be transformed into textiles which has coarse or fine textures.
A 90/14 machine needle together with 2.5 mm polyester or cotton stitches is recommended for anyone who wishes to sew organic hemp fabric however you need to consider the weight of the hemp fabric you are purchasing to adjust with the machine needle and stitches to use.
Another thing that you should take note of is the necessary use of high steam when pressing on the finished garment. It is recommended to use spray starch on hemp fabric so you can make your pressing work easier.
Soy Fabric This type of fabric is made from soybean hull and is known for its soft and luxurious feel. It is perfect for t-shirts, wrap tops and dresses.
Fashion designers are taking advantage of its soft and flowing characteristic so it is often transformed into flowing styles of closed. Use a 75/11 machine needle and accompany it would good quality polyester stitch in executing your design. However you should be extra careful when pressing on your soy fabric clothes. Keep the heat low and never use steam on it or you will find yourself with ruined soy fabric apparel.
Lyocell Fabric This type of fabric is made from wood pulp which was created in the UK in the year 1987. It contains similar properties of cotton and rayon and is perfect for shirts, pants, flowing skirts and dresses. It can be washed or dry cleaned and may come in knit or woven fabrics.
Just like soy fabric, use a 75/11 machine needle and good quality cotton or polyester thread in sewing your design.
